How did we get here?

How did we all get here? Where did time go!

One Saturday morning, I was reminiscing about how we all are all grown now. How some of my friends are now parents, how adulthood is treating you, how life is happening to everyone of us.

I got a word which is, life is in different stages. A stage to where you are a child, a stage where you become a teenager, a stage where you become a parent.

My question is “where exactly is time going”. Time, they say waits for no one. Sometimes I miss my childhood moments when I had no worries, just aims of passing my common entrance, moments where Ugo C. Ugo was my go to book any time any day, moments where I will eat and not wash plates, moments where I will ask my parents for what I know they can afford to give me and I am sure getting it if I have good grades.

Looking back at my secondary school days, I always wanted time to pass so fast. I just wanted to be done with that phase. Days of counting down to SS3, days of counting down to when I would start wearing blue collar like seniors, days of counting down to leaving AFCS’ school gate. The journey was indeed fast but I didn’t realize it was, not until I graduated.

The memories I miss so much are my University days. The joy of being an adult and being able to act like the adult I was. The joy of living in your own world, the joy of being responsible for the decisions you make, the joy of having to plan your daily school activities with intentionality. I so miss those priceless moments. I wish I could go back to those moments again.

Now, adulthood is no joke, work like, life itself isn’t a joke. The daily hustle, the daily traffic one experience in Lagos Nigeria, the economy which isn’t smiling, the hustle and bustle of like just to earn a good living isn’t a joke.

But here it is, to succeed in life, you got to be on your toes, you can succeed right in your comfort zone, you gotta step out to achieve those dreams you have got for yourself, you gotta set goals and strive to achieve them on a daily basis.

One thing I will always tell you not to do is compare your achievements with your friends. Everyone has a race. No two races are the same. We all are unique in our own ways. Live life to the fullest and fight for your dreams.

What do you miss about your childhood days? Tell me in the comments section. I would love to read yours too.

I promise not to be MIA again Fam! I am back to blogging consistently now.

Till next time,

I remain your friend,

Damiee N.
